Dubai, Aug 18: A one day workshop on drama writing and poetry recitation by Daiji Rang Mandir, a wing of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum was held at Winnys’ Restaurant in Karama, on Friday 17 August.

Dramatist Lancy Pinto Nayak lectured on the topic of modern theatre to the participants. He explained the difference between modern theatre and traditional theatre by giving technical details.

At the same time, senior dramatist Francis Fernandes Cascia too shared his experience relating to the field of drama.

Joseph Mathias, owner of Merrit Freight Systems and Mark Denis D’Souza, owner of Fortuna Engineering Works inaugurated the workshop. Dayan D’Souza, convener, Daiji Rang Mandir was present on the dais. Dony Correa welcomed the gathering.

Later a poetry recitation programme by Kavita Trust was held.  Francis Fernandes Cascia, Lancy Pinto Nayak, Asha Fernandes, Vincy Pinto Angelore, Arthur Pereira and Melvyn Rodrigues recited their poems. To bring some comic relief, Dayan D’Souza entertained the gathering with his comedy.

Also on the occasion, ‘Tin Dukhan Ulaytana,’ written by Arthur Pereira was released for its Gulf readers, in a significant way by Lancy Pinto Nayak. Melvyn Rodrigues delivered an introductory speech on the book.

Finally, the Daiji Dubai office-bearers’ charge-handing-over ceremony was held. Former treasurer Robert Fernandes handed over the documents to newly-elected convener Hemacharya and treasurer Linus Moras. James Mendonca, president of Mangalore Konkans was present on this occasion and who then distributed prizes to the winners of the workshop. Alwyn Pinto proposed vote of thanks.

Being not much familiar with Konkani,(most of us use kannada while speaking, and writing in our place and churches) I got a chance to see famous dramatist shree Francis Fernandes, cascia, Lancy P..Nayak and Dayan who gave lot of knowledge about modern theatre to all of us.  Really it was tons of worth experience from seniors to new artists.and function was very well organised and all the artistes are very much supportive.and Hemacharya did a great job too.

Please arrange more & more shows like this, so, Daiji Rang Mandir name will reach Himaylays!
