Kundapur, Nov 28: One person died on the spot and another sustained injuries after their bikes collided at Shiroor in the taluk on Saturday November 28.
The deceased has been identified as Venkataramana Nayak (44), a resident of Bhatkal.
It is learnt that Nayak along with another person identified as Jayant was riding towards Kundapur to visit a relative, when his bike collided head-on with another bike. Nayak sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot, while Jayant who was riding pillion escaped with minor injuries.
Sandeep Shetty, a resident of Shankaranarayana, who was riding the other bike, was severely injured. He admitted to Manipal hospital.
Venkataramana Nayak was an auto rickshaw driver by profession. He leaves behind his wife and three children.
The body was taken to Kundapur government hospital.
Byndoor police have registered a case.
