Bengaluru: CM concerned over 'poisoning' of society

Bengaluru, Nov 29 (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the trend of growing intolerance posed a threat to the entire society and humanity.

Addressing a gathering during the Kanakadasa Jayanti celebrations in Bengaluru on Saturday, Siddaramaiah said that intolerance and deep rooted caste system was prevalent in the past too. But in the present day scenario, “poisoning” society under the garb of Hindutva and Hindu religion was an alarming trend.

Teachings still relavant

Hence the teachings of the philosophers and saints like Basavanna and Kanakadasa were more relevant today, as they condemned inequality, superstition and caste system.

On the occasion, Siddaramaiah, who was addressing the audience at the function, also said that Purandaradasa and Kanakadasa were the proponents of Dasa philosophy, having given a base to secular and rationalist principles.

He also said that it was not right to restrict Kanakadasa to a certain caste and religion.

On the occasion, Dasa philosophy scholars, Swamirao Kulkarni and Chandrakant Bijjaragi were presented with Kanakashri and Kanaka Gourava Puraskara, 2015, respectively.

    bhakts are allergic to truth.

bhakts can only abuse Siddu for Bhagyas....I dont see anything wrong in Welfare schemes as it is a neat way of utilizing public money for the welfare of the needy.

BJP bhakts do not want benefits....instead they can fill their stomach with BHASHANS and 15 lakhs lie.

RASHDIE became a good guy to Congress since he lead a march in UK against MODI Govt..Now Congress realised a major minority community got alternative political party like TMC/AAP/RJD/JDU..Congress leaders who banned books of RASHDIE/TASLEEMA just to appease, now realised even if they remove ban nothing will happen..if tomorrow RSS criticises MODI, they may also become secular for Congress..Look how they are playing with fire in Punjab supporting banned outfits..

When poisoning instances come to the fore, that time these people do not speak, instead they maintain studied silence!
Not using the law of the land at their disposal against accused.
Not treating person when sick, but attempting after his death.
When the matters are forgotten or stale then they come to remind.

Growing intolerance is visible all over and we are no exceptions.
It is not just restricted to subjects related to the state of the nation and / or the government of the day.
    1. The Celebrity :
Celebrities have let their fans down with their actions. The case of the star involved in handling arms in the Mumbai riots. The super star driving a car over people. A Cricket captain was found guilty of match fixing.
Fortunately for these the social media was not so big despite which the incidents were discussed threadbare and were the talk of the town .
Our Society has double standards . A Star who is idolised is suddenly also run down, when they seemingly let us down.
It is not something new, and it is not just about their opinions on the country.
Social media now makes it easier and you see the reactions to an issue so easily and so plentiful.
    2. Almost everyone can react.
Celebrities are not the only ones that are talked about . A brand which appears on Facebook hundreds of folks jump and exhibit intolerance to a small grammatical error or any other mistake on the part of the brand.
We have personally had people exhibit intolerance about Sanya Mirza ,Roger Federer, or some choice of films, or preferences on the political front. Likes and dislikes appear very strong and everyone poses to be 100 % correct.
A small criticism of a popular big budget film , and you can hundreds (or fakers) jump on you, with abuse and all, to make you wonder, why on earth did you bother to write anything at all. While this is partly an unfortunate and desperate marketing effort, to ensure that people don't see any negative reactions to the film.
We react like this, because we can. On Social Media.
3.Reasons for this strange aspect are :
    a. Attention spans are low & reactions are fast!
b.Even a introvert speaks openly as it can be without eye contact and he can get away with it where earlier only party goers could share and voice their opinions .

..concern is OK, but he has to back off from pointing finger at one community..do he know how many from Karnatka joined ISIS,How many dead & how many plotting terror here..From GODHRA to DADRI, Congress damaged social fabric of society using it to vote bank without giving a thought how its damaging..Incidents happening all over the world (in USA now its daily news) but in INDIA its relatively very very low..If any BJP leader give statementit suddenly becomes GOVT policy, but when SALMAN/AIYYA/DIGGY gives it becames personal opinion!!Yesterday CHIDAMBARAM says banning SATANIC VERSES was a mistake!!..Do they now support removing the ban!!.
