Kasargod, Nov 29: In a case that came to light with some delay, two Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees were tied to a pole and assaulted by a group at Badiadka. Though the incident took place some days ago, the visuals related to the incident became public only on Sunday November 15.

The incident comes close on the heels of the Homa conducted by officials of the KSRTC depot to get rid of 'spirits', which had drawn some flak from the public and stirred a controversy.

It is gathered that the two KSRTC employees had been to some programme, where they were allegedly surrounded by a group of people including women and made to consume alcohol. The group then demanded money from the duo, and when they refused, the group accused them of indulging in immoral activities and sexual harassment and assaulted them after tying them to pole.

Moreover, the next day, the women in the group also reportedly filed complaints against the two in Badiadka police station, accusing them of sexual harassment. Sources said that fearing damage to reputation and loss of job, the KSRTC employees paid Rs one lac and tried to close the case. Also, after KSRTC unions intervened, the women took back their complaints.

The incident had been recorded on mobile phones, and came to light only now. Source said that differences between KSRTC unions was one of the reasons behind the incident.

No case has been filed yet. The employees who were assaulted underwent treatment at a hospital.
