Mangaluru: Rachana celebrates Entrepreneurs' Day, bishop Dr Aloysius honoured

Mangaluru, Nov 30: Rachana Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday November 29 celebrated Entrepreneurs' Day, an evening for businessmen, professionals and agriculturists, at Milagres Hall here.

The event was held in aid of Rachana Entrepreneur Development Cell aimed at creating and fostering young and new entrepreneurs.

Bishop of Mangaluru Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza blessed the occasion.

In his address, the bishop said, "Rachana is making immense efforts to take our community forward. Still, a lot needs to be done as we are still backward, we have to come march forward. Many other communities which were backward before are now in the mainstream. This can be possible only when we join our hands together.

"It is important to contribute to the society. I congratulate Rachana on the immense contibution it has made for the betterment of society. Its self-employment scheme has helped many in standing on their own feet. Many families have come up through loans worth Rs 70 lac given to self-help groups. We are living in the society, so when we contribute to it, god will always bless us. The society develops only you contributes towards it," he said.

Rachana president John B Monteiro said, "This organization is working to uplift the community, guide the youth and attract them in the field of business and commerce, and also to strengthen the Christian community."

John Monteiro and Rachana office-bearers felicited bishop Dr Aloysius D'Souza on the occasion.

Former Rachana president Roy Castelino read out the citation which was presented to the bishop.

The bishop also released the quarterly magazine of Rachana, edited by Nelson Monteiro.

Stany Alvares, Louis J Pinto, Anil Lobo, Raymond D'Cunha and others were present.

Cultural programmes were held after the formal function.

    It is just a showcase display
    Still we prefer to be the crabs in the basket pulling each others legs
    We struggle hard to compete but still follow the slow and steady tortoise style.

    Rachana may provide legal aid in every parish of our twin districts which may encourage our people in many ways to do business and overcome hurdles while in business.
