Mangaluru: Fire rages in the absence of family members

Mangaluru, Nov 30: Fire got ignited and spread in the absence of family members in a house here on Sunday November 29. This fire burnt down household items and valuables, causing a loss of about five lac rupees to the house owner.

The incident occurred in the house of Shakeela Mendon, a resident of Casba Bengre near Panambur. Household articles, durables and other including a refrigerator, almirah, utensils, clothes, and a laptop were consumed by raging flames.

It is gathered that family members were away attending a marriage when this tragedy occurred. It is not known how fire got ignited and whether sabotage is suspected. Panambur police have registered a case.

Fire brigade personnel arrived on the spot, and they could ensure that fire does not spread to neighbouring buildings.
