Bantwal: DK should be known for communal harmony in three years: SP Sharanappa

Mounesh Vishwakarma
Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (EP)

Bantwal, Dec 5: "Dakshina Kannada is known to be a communally sensitive district, but in the next three years, we must turn it into a place that would be known for communal harmony. In this direction, public groups and associations, educational institutes, the media and people in general should take special initiative," said DSP Dr Sharanappa.

He was speaking in an interactive session with the media organized as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Bantwal taluk working journalists' association here on Friday, December 4.

"As many as 28 villages in the district are Naxal-affected. Naxals are trying to establish themselves in the border areas of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. We have kept a keen watch on them. Naxal activities are not found anywhere else, except a visit to a house in Beltangady in June this year. Nevertheless the police department has remained cautious," he said.

"Sometimes, the power of the press is being misused by some who are not reporters of any news agency. The police department has come forward to issue stickers to register working journalists through registered bodies. This way, it is possible to prevent misuse of the press," said SP Sharanappa.

"People should unite and work with the police department for public welfare. Educated youth who are misled should be guided to get jobs and proceed in right path. Nearly 70 percent of innocent people become victims in criminal cases. People experience hardships. In order to maintain peace and order in the district, everybody should join hands with the police. The part played by the media is important during unrest. They should convey the right message to people. Change is possible when all join hands. There is scarcity of staff in the police department. We have asked for 323 additional staff. Duties have increased but manpower has not," he said.

He also released press stickers by the Bantwal police sub division for working journalists' associations of Bantwal and Beltangady.

Puttur ASP Rishyanth, Bantwal acting ASP Bhaskar Rai, district working journalists' association chief secretary Srinivasa Nayak Indaje, Beltangady taluk working journalists' association chief secretary Bhuvanesh Gerukatte, silver jubilee celebration committee president Ibrahim Adkasthala, convener Venkatesh Bantwal, association chief secretary Nishanth Billampadavu, town SI Nanda Kumar and others were present.

Association president Mounesh Vishwakarma welcomed. Silver jubilee celebration committee chief secretary Sandeep Salian proposed the vote of thanks. Press Club secretary Gopala Anchan compered the programme.

DK was known for its communal harmony but it has lost its status now in view of growing communal disharmony.Hope the authorities succeed in harnessing the communal harmony again and bring back the lost glory.

Want peace in DK ? Just shut down the popular and beautifully printed newspaper that people say is a great news paper. It is the no.1 reason for the communal hatred in DK. Many people will disagree because this paper so clever it has been fooling the people for more than 4 decades. All the poison and incitement comes from this place. They know how to create hatred and how to draft their reports so as all the blame goes to one particular community. They know how to hide the criminal acts of their RSS supporters. The DK police should consider this before doing anything else.

NO QUESTION OF BANNING ANY GROUPS.
IF POLICE STOP DANCING TO THE TUNES OF POLITICIANS THEREBY PROTECTING CRIMINALS AS CONGI HOME MINISTER SAID NOT TO BOOK MINORITIES AND IF SP TAKES HIS STATEMENT SPORTIVELY WITHOUT FEAR OF TRANSFER IT IS POSSIBLE.
MAKE THE POLICE COMPLIANT EASY THRU INTERNET AND LET IT BE TRANSFERENT WITH FULL DETAILS AND FOLLOW UP ACTIONS AND IF ANYBODY GIVES FALSE COMPLAINT BOOK THEM. THIS WILL MAKE PUBLIC BELIEVE IN THE SYSTEM.

Not possible. Democratic multi culture society which is ultra religious can not maintain harmony. Europe till now used to be a harmonious place because religion was not not given importance. Sadly, all gonna change now. Thanks to recent uninhibited migration of religious lot, Europe will turn into religious sensitive volatile place now.

If DK is most communally sensitive area, blame it on the politicians who thrive by dividing the society on communal lines. All along they waste precious time and resources on all unwanted things. The politicians must try to develop the area by doing something constructive for the society. Now because of the print and electronic media they stand exposed. If they behave in a mature and responsible manner, the district can become the best because the people of this district are the best and all of them want to live in peace and harmony.

    SK,
RSS is there from 1925, working on its ideas on nationalism peacefully, without confronting any religion.
The unrest in indian society started with the birth of organisations like SIMI and continuing or on the rise ith KFDs and PFIs.

RSS always lends a humanitarian hand to anyone irrespective of religion.. as shown during Chennai floods.
So a ban on KFD and PFI can bring peace to Mangalore.

Good statement by SP Sharanappa but only on papers. Is it possible? If it is possible why three years, why not now only?.Where there is a will, there will always be a way.Nothing is impossible in this world.First and foremost thing is all the trouble shooters, rumour mongers,anti-society elements should understand the meaning of communal harmony and they should be eliminated first.Anyhow good opinion and suggestion by SP Sharanappa but we have to keep our fingers crossed to see the good days and communal harmony.Wait and watch the outcome. It is always better sooner than the late.

DK should be known for communal harmony, true! Trouble mongers and their pawns should first realize this!
    Most educated district!
Whether education could bring communal harmony and peace?
Most rich and clean, are all happy?
We have to learn something from Chennai floods!
    People had almost everything.
ATM Money, vehicles, phones, hospitals, houses, school & colleges but can anything come in use when hit by nature's furry?
Humanity alone can help one another when stricken by calamity.

The current mental status of DK people are controlled by religious & political parties!

If people of all community live like a family then both religious & political people will be out of business. That's the reason why these crooks are creating issues & manipulating people, spreading fear and mistrust among each other.

Media will add oil on the fire for their own benefit to reach larger audience..

It's not only happening here in DK but all around the world! The worst case of religious & political manipulation can be seen in countries like Pakistan, Iraq..etc

It looks like a never ending story!!!

It sounds relaxing. Anyways hope for the peace and harmony in Dakshina Kannada and for the whole nation too. The reason for the communal clashes in the past is just because of freedom of speeches to the leaders of anti religious parties and department failed to adhere the strict punishment for those who take law in their own hand and whose intention only riots.
