Kundapur, Dec 5: State energy minister, D K Shivakumar, arrived at Kollur Goddess Mookambika temple in the taluk on Friday December 4 morning. Accompanied by his wife, he paid obeisance to the Goddess and took part in Chandika Homa oblation thereafter.
After performing the rituals, he spoke to reporters and said that suitable steps will be taken to meet the power demand in the state after December 15.
"Adequate electricity will be provided in view of the future of students who are writing their exams. Enough water is stored in Linganamakki reservoir to prevent power cuts," he said.
"Special attention has been given to Udupi district as electricity is being generated in the district itself, and as per a request from MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, it has been ordered that electricity be provided round the clock. LED bulbs will be made available to people under Hosa Belaku project from December 11," he said.
On the minister's arrival, he was accorded warm reception by managing trustee of the temple, Krishnaprasad Adyantaya, executive officer, T R Uma, deputy executive officer, Krishnamurty, superintendent, Ramakrishna Adiga, Kollur gram panchayat president, Vishwanath Adiga and others, on behalf of the temple administration.
Byndoor and Vandse block Congress president, Ramesh Ganga Kollur, Sampigeyadi Sanjeeva Shetty, taluk panchayat member, Raju Poojary, Vasudeva Yadiyala, Gopalakrishna Adiga, and several others were present on the occasion.
