Mangaluru, Dec 5: Father Muller Medical College, a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions is a registered society sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Mangaluru.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be organizing a conference 'patient safety in obstetrics' on December 6 at the college. The announcement was made at a press conference on December 4 at the press club.

Health care outcomes have significantly improved with the scientific discoveries of modern medicine.
Alongside these benefits are significant risks to patient safety.

Patient safety is a global and regional public health issue affecting all types of health care systems whether in developed or developing countries. The majority of health care errors are considered to be preventable. A change of culture over time is sought for sustainability purposes. Patient safety aims at making health care safe for both clients and health service staff.

The conference is proud to have received the endorsement of two giants in the field of patient safety- NABH and AHPI our technical and knowledge partners.

The conference will be inaugurated by A B Ibrahim, Mangaluru’s DC who is very much involved with mother and child health.

The CME will benefit medical practitioners in the periphery including government doctors from first referral units and all obstetricians, paediatricians, anesthetists, health administrators and nursing personnel.
