Mangalore: Gandhian Freedom-fighter Sundar Ram Alva (84) No More

Mangalore, Aug 21: Kanchila Madantadi Guttuhosamane Sundar Ram Alva (84), a staunch Gandhian and senior freedom fighter, passed away at home on August 19.

Being a true Gandhian at heart, he was always attired in khadi. During his prime time, he was active as an Indian National Congress leader and had served as chairman of panchayat.

Alva had been honoured at a freedom fighters' meet in the city in 2006.

He is survived by a daughter and four sons.
