Minister Jarkiholi spends night at graveyard to denounce superstition

Daijiworld Media Network - Belagavi (SP)

Belagavi, Dec 7: State minister for small scale industries, Satish Jarkiholi, led a team of people to the graveyard here and spent the entire Saturday night there. He did this to observe the death anniversary of the father of Indian Constitution, B R Ambedkar, as Anti Superstitions Reformation Day.

On this occasion, a programme to administer oath against believing in superstitions followed by community feast was held. On this occasion, scientific analyst, Hulikal Nataraj, presented a programme in which he revealed the scientific secret behind certain 'miracles'. Thereafter, a Kannada play, 'Maranave Mahanavami' was presented by Shivasanchara troupe of Sanehalli.

Speaking on the occasion, Jarkiholi said that the main aim of this programme was to advocate the principles and thinking of Ambedkar and Basavanna, and to fight against Brahminism, in addition to creation of society that is free of superstitions. He said that in the coming days, a minimum of 100 activists who are scientific thinkers will be identified to propagate these ideas and principles in every taluk.

Swami Agnivesh of Bandhua Mukti Morcha, New Delhi, addressing the gathering, felt that the country even now does not have religious, food, and individual freedoms, and that superstitions are gaining stronger foothold. He said that a systematic attempt to impose Hinduism is on.

Nijagunananda Swamiji of Nishkala Mantapa Belur felt that the politicians and religious heads have to reform themselves personally before venturing into clear the society of superstitions and blind beliefs.

If this minister had the b^!!$ he should have slept in the open and not in a air conditioning RD . PLUS HE has the nerve to post a picture. These minister's should be buried in the graveyard, but then even the dead people will be offended. He is a punk.

If anyone gets this kind of facility inside a make shift tent / vehicle for over night, it is not a big deal to spend a night in Graveyard. May be spirits n demons should start teaching these dreadful Politicians some lessons in life. What drama to get media attention Mr. Minister. Come on, wake up n start working, stop doing all this " Attention seeking deeds " !! Cheap publicity seekers.

Why have you to go thru the views of people here ? The voices of rationalists, scientists and social reformers are silenced by vested interests, even though they proved the fallacy of superstition. Of all, I hate the most is the indignity and humiliation a mother has to go thru owing to this superstition, when she becomes a widow. Majority of Indians and some outsiders, support this unscientific and illogical belief.

Jarkhiholi hails from Gokak in Belagavi district, which is known as Bihar of Karnataka. In Gokak Human life is very cheap . If the Farmers ask Sugar factories to pay their dues, such farmers are murdered very next night. A family of a politicians, whose all three brothers are MLAs from three different parties, are notorious for murdering. So, people hailing from such horrible place are not afraid of evil spirits as they themselves are worst than Pishachi-Pretas.

    R Mallar, Kasaragod/ Duba

Mr. Mallar, most of the spirits and demons in that graveyard are of ex politicians of Belgavi, Mr. Jarkiholi went to ask their advice on his next political move. So he took all his advisers along with him to spend the night at the graveyard.
Also he was not very confident of spending the night alone.
There was incident happened many many years ago in Australia, two guys challenged each other for $25,000, one said he will go to a certain friends grave at mid night, and spend the whole night there, as a proof of this his challenger has to leave him till the graveyard gate and lock the gate after his entry, and also hammer a nail on the tomb of the friend as a proof, while he was hammering the nail, in dark, he hammered it on his shirt sleeve, as he stood up, he got pulled by the nail, he thought it was the spirit, and died on the spot of heavy heart failure. The body was found by the graveyard worker next morning. This was a real incident happened (in Williamstown Graveyard) , so there is no spirits, no one has to be scared about the dead, they don't harm you, but be scared about the people who are living, they will cause you the pain.
