Kasargod, Dec 7: In a sad incident, a girl committed suicide by setting herself on fire, hours after her grandfather passed away.

The deceased girl has been identified as Reshma (22). Her grandfather P K Kannan (75) passed away in a private hospital at Chervathur on Monday December 7 morning after he was admitted for chest pain the previous night.

Unable to bear the loss of her grandfather, Reshma reportedly went to the toilet, poured kerosene and set herself on fire. Though she was rushed to the hospital, she could not be saved.

It is said that Reshma was a computer science student and was very fond of her grandfather.

The body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

Chandera police have registered a case.

Its very easy to harp about and find reason behind it blaming it on the victim itself. Death of loved ones is intense and traumatic and specially grand parents , grand children relationships are pristinely bonded . Girl would have thought life itself is futile without grandpa . All she needed was to ensure that nothing really ends , its just we feel in that way. We also cross over and move over the other side with all the surprises waiting for us . Nothing cease to exist.

Very sad. Those who commit suicide think that they are ending the pain. But actually what they are doing is passing on that pain to those whom they leave behind.

Very sad act from the Girl. She must have been very fond and nearer to him than parents. But she was not a small Girl ,and could have in a stage of stabilize herself or parents could console her (if they were nearer).May be she was very emotional and nobody was there to console her. With her suicide she has made her parents also besides grandfathers death in a utter inconsolable stage.Heart felt sympathy to the Family.May their souls rest in peace.

Height of stupidity....far from realistic...as its inevitable that oldies pass off n young ones take oldies roles eventually n infants grow young..its life cycle n circle...its too much of stupid thought..

Whatever we say about the incident which is borne out purely on emotion.....wisdom takes a back seat for a moment.
Emotions are short lived .....man is bestowed by god immense amount of forgetfulness to overcome any emotional incidents......
