Sony Music leads Apple Music's Best of 2015 list


Mumbai, Dec 12 (IANS): Global music brand Sony Music Entertainment has topped Apple Music’s Best of 2015 list across various categories including Best Artist, Best Bollywood Album, Best Song, Best New Artist and Best Tamil Album.

The awards have been selected by a team of music experts.

While composer Pritam's songs in Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer “Dilwale” were selected as the Best Bollywood Album, music maestro A. R. Rahman's music in Tamil film “O Kadhal Kanmani” was chosen as the Best Album.

“It feels great to close 2015 on such a high note. Being selected amongst the best of 2015 is a huge recognition and encouragement for us as a music label and our artistes. I’m glad our music has made a huge difference and is being appreciated by the listeners,” marketing director of Sony Music India Sanujeet Bhujabal said in a statement.

Other categories in which the music banner clinched awards include Best Song for rapper Badshah's “DJ waley babu”, Divine as the Best New Artist for "Meri Gully Mein" and “Thani Oruvan” by Hiphop Thamizha as the Best Tamil Album of the year.

In other categories, Rajesh Murugesan bagged Best Malayalam Album for "Premam" (music label: Muzik 247). V. Harikrishna got Best Kannada Album for "Ranna" (music label: D Beats). "Ananthaal" by Ananthaal won the Best Indian Pop (music label: Times Music). Hrishikesh, Saurabh and Jasraj were honoured with Best Marathi Album award for "Double Seat" (label: Video Palace). Nick Dhammu and Jatinder Singh-Shah won Best Punjabi Album for "Sadarji" (label: Speed Records).
