Puttur: Documentary film 'Addict' by student group set for release

Puttur, Dec 12: Student group 'Shadow Creations' from Puttur, which was eager to bring out something new after its popular maiden venture 'Model', will release its second dream project 'Addict' at Kombettu M Sundararam Shetty memorial Bantara Bhavan on December 13.

It is the bitter truth of today that younger generation gets addicted to social evils and is often unable to come out from them. In this respect, a group of youths has produced a film titled 'Addict' based on the subject showing how such youths can be brought out from such evils. The film is subtitled as 'Followers of the imaginary world'.

Talented Vipin Rai Kakara, a student of St Philomena College, has written the story, script and dialogues and has acted in the main role. Both he and his friend Sujith S Patali who will appear in the important roles in the film have also taken the responsibility of directing the film.

Actor Arjun Kapikad, actresses Kareena Ameen and Soujanya Hegde, Soombe film's Rahul Ameen, Rambarooti film's R J Vineet will be the main attraction during the release of the film. Besides, Bantara Yane Nadavara Sangha Mangaluru secretary Kavu Hemanatha Shetty, Puttur taluk Bantara Sangha president Dayananda Rai Manavalikeguthu, secretary Niranjan Rai Matantabettu, Jayakarnataka youth unit district president Sahaj J Rai and others will be the guests of honour.

D' Zone and Dominator's team will present 'Dance Dance', Namma TV Bale Thelipale team will perform 'Kusalda Comedy' and film background singers will present Madhura Geetha Lahari 'Inchara' programmes on the occasion. Savi Savi Nenapu fame R J Prasanna will compere the programme, said the film unit to media persons.

Most in the technical team are the friends of Vipin and Sujith. The film has completed shooting in picturesque surrounding of Puttur, Uppinangady, Bantwal, Mangaluru, Sringeri etc.

The daring act of Shanil guru shot in Puttur's new bus stand is breathtaking said the film unit. He has also acted in yet-to-be released Tulu film 'Rambarooti'.


About the film

As the name of the film indicates, it is the story of a youth addicted to vices. The film is produced based on incidents occurring in day-today-life. The film portrays the attempts by the friends of addict to make him give up addiction and be a respectable citizen once again. The film consisting of two heroines has several twists and turns. Besides Puttur, actors from Udupi and Mangaluru have joined hands in the venture.

The film has more than 40 artistes. Director Vipin Rai, Sujith S Patali, Rakshitha, Hensita Sharan D'Souza, Dr Rajesh Puttur, journalist Santhosh Mottethadka, S Damodar Patali, Marilu church parish priest Fr Francis Assisi D'Almeida, Dikshith Ameen, Jayakarnataka Nagara Samiti president Sharath Alva, Ashok Kotian Udupi, Sandhya Ashok Udupi, St Philomena College Prof Rajeshwari M, Amisha Shetty, Abhiram V, Punya Shree and Sujan D Patali have acted in the movie. Students from St Philomena PU and Degree College, Vivekananda Degree and Engineering College, SDM Ujire, St Aloysius College Mangaluru would also be seen in the film.

The film has been produced by Koragappa Rai and businessman Sudesh Shetty. Nitin Kumar has provided music. Razak Puttur who has written lyrics for Kanasu and other films has written lyrics. Ede Thumbi Haduvenu fame singer Yashwanth Udupi and Sushmitha S Patali have sung the songs. Vijay Rudolf Monteiro is the assistant director. Guruprasad is the editor. Cameraman K Akshaya Nayak has caught the scenes in his camera. The teaser of the film is shown in social network Youtube.

The team has received Big F M Radio and Daijiworld Media as partners. In the competition held by Daijiworld Television for quality short films at Forum Fiza Mall, Model film had secured the seventh place, said the film team.
