Beltangady, Dec 13: A little girl died in a tragic accident involving a jeep near Pilikala pumphouse at Neriya here on Sunday December 13.

The deceased has been identified as Swasti (6), daughter of Raghava Gowda, a resident of Karpaje near Miyar.

Swasti's younger sister, identified as Sanvi, was injured in the accident.

It is said that Raghava Gowda along with his two daughters was going to Neriya in his jeep to attend a puja at his wife's house. The jeep was being driven by another person name Perana Gowda.

When they reached near the pumphouse, they stopped the jeep to pick up two more people, and to adjust space at the back of the jeep, Raghava made his two daughters get down. The other two persons got in, and even as Sanvi was climbing back in, the driver put the jeep in reverse. Swasti who was still standing outside came under the wheels and died, while Sanvi sustained injuries.

Swasti was a student of first standard.

Beltangady police have registered a case.
