Mandya: Upset with state govt, Saalumarada Thimmakka to return awards

Mandya, Dec 14 (DHNS): Environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka has decided to return all awards conferred on her by the State government, upset over the fact that her request for a maternity hospital in her village was not heeded.

She wants the hospital built at Hulikal in Magadi taluk of Bengaluru Rural district.

Thimmakka, who was attending a sapling distribution programme at Basaralu in the taluk, said, “The government had honoured me with several awards, in recognition of my efforts in protecting the environment by planting saplings. However, my long-pending request for a maternity hospital for the benefit of women in my village has been ignored by the government. Hence, I have decided to return the awards.”

Thimmakka lamented that “my frequent plea for a monthly pension and a house has fallen on deaf ears. What will I do with the awards?” she questioned.

Thimmakka said, she had nurtured trees on either side of the four-kilometre stretch of a road in Magadi taluk with the money earned as a labourer.

Saalumarada Thimmakka should understand that Siddu can not fulfil her demand because there is no no money with him. He wants extra funds for celebrating Jayanthi's and Bhagyas. That is his first preference. At any cost Siddu needs Jayanthi's first then comes Bhagya.

Environment protection should be a spontaneous gesture with no strings attached. Just because Thimmakka has done great service for the environment, she should not ask in return for pension, and a hospital for her Taluk as there are many other silent Thimmakka’s doing service without any eye for return, in the State.

Why ? because most of the so called Intellectuals who got awards during Corrupt Congress ruling have already returned. I am sure they might have got these awards by boot licking .. some congress leaders

If there is a primary health care centre in her village with required facility why have a separate maternity hospital. There are midwives who go to the homes to assist during confinement. Monthly pension, house for self are not public causes. Recognition for a social work is for what award was given. Both should not be mixed up. Thimmakka should request the govt., for help through her local MLA. Things may work in her favour. Award wapasi will not be the right method.

The government should abolish all subsidies and use those funds in building infrastructure that benefits the general public, especially the poor. It is commonsense that education and healthcare are the primary sectors that need utmost attention from the government. People in dire need of subsidies do not constitute even 0.01% of the state's population (people who avail subsidised food grains from the government do not hesitate to spend any amount on alcohol and mobiles). Let the government make sincere effort in identifying those who truly need subsidies and provide them with subsidies.

State government is announcing so many Bhagya's like,Ksheera Bhagya,Anna Bhagya,Shaadi Bhagya,Aa Bhagya,ee Bhagya etc in order to lure votes from the people belonging to minority group in the ensuing elections. This is called vote bank politics to please the minority people. But however because of all these Bhagyas, many other people became "NIRBHAGYA",we must say this is our "DAURBHAGYA".This is from the tax payers money, not from the pockets of politicians. When government is announcing all these Bhagyas, why can't government consider the plea of Saalumara Thimmakka to build one maternity hospital in her constituency( place) as desired by her.Thimmakka lamented that “my frequent plea for a monthly pension and a house has fallen on deaf ears. What will I do with the awards?” she questioned. She has rightly said.Shame on the government.Government is spending lot on unwanted things but it is not ready to honour Thimmakka's request.Well done Thimmakka.God bless you

Try to understand the situation before seeking apology from sidrama.

People in Karnataka are worried about the increase in liquor prices. Sidrama is planning out things to provide public with cheep liquor which is need of the hour.
Hospitals, pensions to Thimmakka.. everything can wait.
When you are in a congrass ruled state, you should understand their policies!
