Mangaluru, Dec 14: The maiden venture of Universal Properties 'Golden Spring' apartments and 'Meera Complex' at Kulur Ferry Road, Urwa-Chilimbi was inaugurated on Monday December 14.

'Golden Spring' apartments and Meera Complex, a stylish commercial-cum-residential complex, is claimed to be the first building in Mangaluru constructed on a solid earthquake-resistant concrete foundation.

MLC Ivan D'Souza inaugurated the shopping complex, Meera Complex, while MLA of Mangaluru South constituency J R Lobo inaugurated the 'Golden Spring' apartments.

J R Lobo called upon the citizens of Mangaluru to oppose the anti-social elements that are spoiling the name of the city. "It is a good developemt that new complexes are coming up at a swift rate in the city. While this is a matter of happiness, I also fear what would happen if the apartments are not sold, as that would hamper development. I have a reason to say this. With the developement of housing complexes there is a need to create insdustries and employment which will make the youth of the region stay in the city. But due to the 0.001 percent of people 'brand Mangaluru' is losing its sheen, and it is only because the majority 99.999 percent is keeping mum. It is the responsibility of this majority to oppose the anti-social elements," he said.

"Since 30-35 years, I have been closely associated with proprietor Gilbert D'Souza and his family as he was my senior. I wish his venture will be a model to budding young entrepreneurs. I wish him good luck", he added.

Speaking on the occasion MLC Ivan D'Souza appreciated the proprietors for bringing up this venture in the outskirts of the city.

"The heart of the city has developed well. The outskirts of the city have to be developed as there is ample room for systematic planning including the less traffic. Systematic planning along with state of the art infastructure can be achieved, thus contributing to Mangaluru's development into a smart city. I wish good luck to all the residents and the promotors of this venture," Ivan said.

The parish priest of Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa, Fr Stany Pereira blessed the premises.

Proprietor Gilbert D'souza thanked the gathering. Nisha D'Souza compered the programme.

Land owners Gerald Pinto, Gokuldas Bhat, Gayatri Bhat, architect Suresh Pai, Violet D'souza, spouse of Gilbert D'souza, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino and others were present.

You said it right Mr. Lobo. We have educational institutes, and residential complexes. The urgent need of the hour is industries and MNCs. Bangalore is choking with scores of MNCs. It is time to attract these companies to Mangalore. All the best, Jai Mangaluru.
