Siddaramaiah wants odd – even vehicle formula in Bengaluru also

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Dec 15: Impressed by Delhi model of odd and even vehicles travelling in the city on alternate days, Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said the state government is also planning to introduce similar model in Bengaluru city.

Siddaramaiah revealed this information while interacting with media persons at his residence ‘Krishna‘ on Monday December 14.

“There is too much of air pollution in the city. Number of vehicle has also increased a lot over the years. We will call a special meeting to introduce measures to contain these problems,” he said.

When asked will the Delhi model be introduced as it is, Siddaramaiah said the model will be known only after discussion in the meeting.

Siddaramaiah said that he had promised during the assembly elections that he would appoint a minister just to manage the affairs of the city and accordingly a minster has been allotted with the Bengaluru portfolio. Step by step, problems affecting the city will be solved, he said.

Under the Delhi model, a vehicle can travel in the city only on alternate days. Odd and even numbered vehicles take turns every other day. Diesel vehicles registration has been totally stopped in Delhi.

Sometimes I regret what dumb ****ing fools we elect. This is not the solution. These smart Indians will buy a second had vehicle with even number if they have one with odd number against all odds and drive everyday or if they already have an even number vehicle they will pay more to get an even numbered new vehicle. The dream of having elected representatives and a government like that of the caliber of a small nation like Singapore is near to impossible in this country.

As roads are in bad condition, vehicles are driven in 1st gear. This is causing pollution.
Fix the road instead of odd-even.

Practice what you preach. Take out all these lal batti cars in which politicians and babus travel. Let them also follow odd even rule. Let them also use public transport on alternate days. Then implement such rules on people who worked their back side off to rise in life and buy car. By the way it would not be hard for a household to have rwo cars - one even and another odd.

Many commentators here suggest petrol engines instead of diesel ones to curb pollution. This is wrong. Apart from Suspended particulate matter (SPM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), petrol engines are worse when in comes to carbon dioxide and monoxide (controlled by catalytic concerter at exhaust.

Dear Concern, First please check the quality of fuel that is supplied by Fuel dealers. It is not below 50% of the required quality to be used in vehicles. In India quality of Fuel is not equal to the fuels which is the real one. In India fuel is mixed with other lubricants. First need to check the quality.

First you clear the potholes on Bangalore roads. These potholes are slowing down traffic and there by leading to traffic jam during peak hours.

More the vehicle spends time on road, more air pollution.

Another issue is digging of roads by various civil amenities departments. Once road is dug, it will be asphalted only after a year or so.
The dust arising from these pit s are also contributing to air pollution in the city.

Clearing potholes and maintaining good road itself will help us to bring down at least 25% of air pollution in the city.

..this is crazy formula of crazywall..it can work in developed countries only where there is effctive/reliable public transportation systems working..the competent authority NGT said ODD/EVEN not good adventure..the logic is people will travel in Buses on the subsequent day..But they wont, for sure..now a days second hand vehicles we can get at dirt heap rate, people can have it as option..ODD/EVEN will increase vehicle on Road..only poor who cant afford will suffer..Instead of this ban Diesel vehicle entering city/residential areas, encourage Cycle riding for short distance, create cycle path, run solar/electric Auto..plant tree & create gardens of Ayurvedic trees which are scientifically proven antioxident and appreciate/honour people like saalu mara thimmakka..because trees are most efficient antipollution agent..
