Bengaluru to introduce motorcycle taxi service from January

Bengaluru, Dec 16 (DHNS) : Heytaxi, a new taxi service will roll out in January, in Bengaluru. It plans to bring motorcycle taxis, the kind you may have seen in Goa, to the City.

Heytaxi has 27 registered riders in the city and is planning to induct more in the coming weeks. From January, the service will be available at a base fare of Rs 20 for first 2 kms and Rs 7 per Km after that. It is also running a promotional campaign this month offering two free rides to customers up to 5 Kilometers.

The app based service is already functioning in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Besides requesting a ride, customers can also request riders to pick up and drop parcels. The taxi service in Bengaluru, however, will be initially available only to men due to safety reasons.

Heytaxi sees good potential for growth in Bengaluru as its charges are cheaper than auto fare. It also hopes to compete with the other app based taxi services in the city.

Thailand has bike taxi since many years and they have a good track record on woman safety.
It is really helpful for short distances where taxi cannot accept the passenger.
It also helps passenger stuck in bad traffic.

But today every one forgot to ask y not motorcycle taxi in Mangalore?. may be they know Mr. Siddu is CM only for Bangalore, not for karnataka.

Any way well iniciative to reduce traffic and polution.

    Brother,
Its a capital of Karnataka. You just need to have commonsense.Imagine its first introduced in mangalore by state govt.Don't you think other cities will raise their voice against injustice. So first it has to start with the capital be it in any state.May be for you mangalore is love of your life, but others too like their city verymuch.
If this bike taxi is successful, maybe govt will expand it to other cities also.Cross finger.

I saw the report that in Uganda in the rural areas they have cycle taxis (not rickshaws) for one passenger behind (including women). That and the motor bike taxis may be also a great idea for the rural India.

Good initiative by the state government unlike lying central government. I was amazed to read the news that petrol prize is down by 50 ps and Diesel by 46ps!. Thats not amazing!. Amazing is that world crude oil per barrel prices are lowest since 11 years and our Modiji's fuel prices are only lowest since 2 years!. No connection between international and domestic prices!. Looks this central sarkar is repaying the debt it owes to Reliance and Adani group!

This was first introduced in Goa over eighty years ago.

This is a very convenient mode of transport. If a side cars are fitted it would be ideal because two people and a driver can conveniently travel with some baggage too.

What is the necessity. when the city itself is suffering from various other issues like garbage that requires the attention first. give proper drainage facilities. One rain and whole traffic is blocked. Firs Solve the Traffic problems first.

You may ask security service from Government because of rapes cases who were travelling in Taxis????? Whoever wants Motorcycle taxi and low charges they may go with it. and the person who don't have rain coats, they may chose to go by taxi.

    Please note:
    - No raincoats provided (Next time you may demand shoes, goggles, glows also)
    - Luggage you have to carry your own (as much as you can manage to handle during ride)
    - There are no lady riders for the time being (but will be included in the future). Also, ladies avoid travelling with male riders (Moral polices may follow you)

    Thank you
