Kundapur: 25-year-old killed on spot in tanker-bike collision at Byndoor

Kundapur, Dec 17: A collision between a tanker and a bike at Holebagilu in Kambadakone under Byndoor police limits here on Thursday December 17 claimed the life of a young man.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhakar Devadiga (25), a resident of Bijoor.

It is learnt that Prabhakar was riding to Nagoor from Bijoor when a tanker moving from Kundapur to Bhatkal rammed into his bike.

A grievously injured Prabhakar died on the spot.

Prabhakar was working in a garage at Nagoor. He was riding to work after having lunch at home when the accident took place.

Byndoor police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

    1.When a person rides a 2 wheeler( to work or home nearby) does he gets a feeling that there will be an accident? - NO.

    2. Do the astrologers give accurate prediction of impending doom( likely to get road accident next month so avoid 2 wheeler next month )? NO.

    3. can the statisticians predict the likely hood of an average person getting accident? Probably.

    4. Research has shown that if you have used sudden breaks ( sudden decrease in speed) in the last week or so then you are more likely to meet with an accident. Sudden break or cutting the speed indicates risky 2 or 4 wheeler driving in other words taking risks with less margin for error.

    5. Insurance companies in some countries determine the insurance premium by using a GPS monitored dongle to the car that transmits real time speed data as well as gives a beep each time there is sudden decrease of speed( application of breaks).

    6.All 2 wheelers need to comply with the helmet rule. Heavy fines are needed for not wearing helmets and the money collected which should be used for expenses in ensuring helmet rule.

    It is very sad to see the utter lack of Police enforcement of safe driving in DK that has encouraged the "rash driving culture by the motorists" which initiates the risky behavior in Youth.

    Very sad.RIP.These type of accidents happening regularly both in DK/Udupi districts.Better to have separate lane for two wheelers,heavy vehicles.
    heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.May god grant an eternal peace to the departed soul.
