Should bars not increase according to population? -Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network-Ballary (RJP)

Ballary, Dec 18: “The population in the state has increased. Accordingly number of liquor shops should also be increased. The government needs to consider whether it should permit the opening of new liquor outlets and bars or not,” said chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday, December 17.

The chief minister was speaking to reporters at Jindal airport in Ballary.

“Liquor consumption has not gone down after the government banned cheap liquor. Instead unauthorised production and supply of liquor are on the rise. We have not issued new licences for bars and liquor shops for the past 23 years. Hence the illegal trade has gone up. To stop this, the government is thinking about issuing new licences. But we never said that licences will be issued. We feel that the liquor shops should increase as per the increase in population.” Siddaramaiah added.
The state excise minister Manohar H Tahasildar on December 13 had said that “The chief minister still wants to make available cheap liquor in the state. But he wants to make sure that it is not of inferior quality. So we are trying to know whether it is possible to get quality liquor at a cheaper price. Hence we are talking to different liquor manufacturers.”

But the next day the chief minister had denied this saying there was absolutely no plan to introduce cheap liquor again. Cheap liquor or not, liquor issue has reached the chief minister level.

What a shame ? Dear Hon. C M. if you think Bars should increase as per population, roads & infrastructure should also " Increase - isnt it sir? If that is logic, as vehicles increase, roads should increase, also facilities to population should increase - isnt it sir?
Why only Bars? Dont we have enough bars for people to drink n get drunk? People will search for closest bars if there is none close by, But if we dont have enough roads where can we go ? Please clarify..!!

Will the opening of more liquor outlets/bars lead to better quality of infrastructure/standard of living/governance for the people of Karnataka?

The Congress Govt. in Karnataka has been elected with a huge mandate, with the hope of providing exemplary, development-oriented, peaceful, corruption-free governance.

Are you on the right path?

People are commenting as if alcohol is a crime...no one should consume and it is dangerous! If people have a control...no one can force an extra peg! Hence demand will be less! Stop people from drinking if you can! Go to Gujarat and see how many million gallons are consumed!Hypocrites preach and practice getting high secretly!!

how stupid. this joker got such a topic on priority to think and discuss when thousands of issues lying unresolved. Bl,.dy, teachers, police ... so many areas are there to think where there is a real scarcity of people of officers. Instead of all these, this joker laughingly talking about bar numbers compared to the population. what to say... we should hit ourselves with our own chappals. because we are the ones who elected these jokers as our leaders. ayyyooo... one side we have dynamic, world class PM who is working for 18 hours a day for the development of the country. Other side is our CM siddooo... who doesn't know what's happening in the state and in his own sleepy mood... commenting ban on hindu programs in TV, celebrate Tippu jayanthi and now height's of stupidity... increasing of bars in the state. Please wake up guys... if we leave this party and people like Siddu and George to rule the state any more, they will our state as a capital of rape and liquor.

I am surprised that a law graduate Chief Minister could speak so hollow. It is not bars which should increase due to rise in population but low cost higher education availability for the population of India. The CM should know that only 8.5percent of the population can afford higher education which is a shame even after 67 yrs of independence. Think it over CM. Increased bars and liquor manufacturers ruins the owners (see the fate of the UB King) and the consumers.

But what about teachers in govt schools? why teachers are very less as compared to increase in students ?
Why Police dept is facing acute shortage of personnel. Have you ever thought of increasing the staff in police dept to commensurate with the very fast increase in crime rate ?

An idea mooted by our honourable chief minister Siddaramayya is highly appreciable and commendable. His name should be given for Oscar award for his achievement. When state is already having so many other issues to be addressed,he is thinking of giving more licenses to open liquor bars. What a stupid idea?.This is his another innovative Bhagya.Because of his so many Bhagya's,poor people have become lazy and unproductive. When everything is getting through Bhagyas, why they have to work.Anna Bhagya,Free rice Bhagya,Ksheera Bhagya,Shaadi Bhagya and now HENDA (Gangasara) Bhagya.Poor people of this state are the richest among other people at the cost of tax payers money.

Mohammed Bin administration by Siddaramayya."Kuthe dhoom Baara Saal Nall ka andar rakke, phir nikalo, uska dhoom thede ki theda hi rahega".Seeda nahi hoyega.Vaise hamra Mukhya mantri ka yojanas.Jeethe raho, jeethe raho."VINASHA KAALE,VIPAREETHA BUDDI"Can't help it.

Honourable chief minister,concentrate/focus on some other productivity/constructive areas, where your attention is genuinely needed, which is the need of the hour now.Don't focus on unproductive things. Is alcohol is necessary to live to the people.Without alcohol, can't they survive. You and your government is spoiling the people and making the way for them to get doomed under your rule. When the all the states are thinking of banning and stopping the sale of liquor, you are planning to give more licences to open more and more bars in the state. This is called utter Stupidity of your government.
