Kuwait: Kullvaar Celebrates Colorful Konkani Day

Kuwait, Aug 25: Konkani Kullvar, the Mangalorean Konkani Writers’ Forum in Kuwait organized Konkani Day Celebrations to mark Konkani's inclusion in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution, on Friday August 24 at Indian Community Girls School, Salmiyah.
The program started with welcome song and lighting of traditional lamp by Kullvaar Members. Shaan Bondel briefed Konkani Divas immediately after the welcome speech by Lancy Pinto Nayak. Janet Almeida briefed about the Konkani Kullvar to the audience.
The guest of Honor Henry D' Paula Mumbai (Editor 'KUTAM" Weekly) along with his wife Eveline D’Paula, Walter Nandalike ,Dubai (Founder -daijiworld.com ) A. Veronica Fernandes, Kuwait/Goa (Konkani Fighter) were introduced by Ida D’Silva, Carol Martis and Lancy Pinto Nayak and honoured by fruits, Sandal Garlands, shawl and Memento by Fr. Theo.
As Walter Nandalike could not attend the program due to his committments in Mangalore, Wilson Saldanha, received the honor on behalf of Walter and read the message from Walter.
LJ D’souza Brahmavar, a member of Konkani Kullvar was honored by Lawrence Pinto for his contribution for the association. Olivera Flavia (Carol martis) was honored for highest sponsorship collection by Fr. Melwyn.
‘Kullvarchem Dirvem,’ a collection of short stories and poems written by Kullvar members dedicated to the late Johny Suratkal was inaugurated by Henry D’Paula. ‘Jhoap’, a collection of small stories by Shaan Bondel was also inaugurated during this occation by Veronica Fernandes.
Mind blowing songs were sung in between by Ivan, Austin, Prashant, Mergin, Vrinda, Glinda, Rinet, Dion, Denver, Rosary Ferns, Mergin, Prashant, Lancy Rodrigues and Gration DSouza. Macleena Serrao, Meleena Serrao & Group entertained the crowd by performing a dance for Konkani song. The music was provided by Rinet, ivan, Austin, Prashanth, Merwyn and Joseph.
Hilarious comedy play of Late Ramananda Choorya ‘Don Ghodeo Hason Kadyan,’ directed by Lancy Pinto Nayak Kulshekar, was performed by local artistes Shaan, Janet, Rony D'Souza & Rony D'Silva.
The well organized program was compered by Shaan Bondel and Ida D’Silva.
