Udupi, Dec 19: Police in Padubidri have arrested two persons in connection with the theft of bikes, laptops, mobiles and other things on Thursday night, December 17.
Mohammed Thoufiq alias Thousif (19) and Faizal alias Firu (19) are the persons arrested. Police have seized five bikes, one laptop, one monitor, one speaker and 45 mobile phones together worth Rs 2.10 lac.
When the accused were travelling on a bike from Mudarangady with their heads covered with cloths, the police got suspicious and asked them to stop. The bike did not stop, hence police chased it and managed to catch the accused. Upon enquiry, police came to know that the accused were into many thefts in the past.
Both of them who worked in chicken shops had ganja addiction and wanted to live luxurious lives. Thoufiq had already spent two months in jail in a cow theft case. The duo who left their homes with the pretext of watching cricket matches had stolen five bikes and other goods on various occasions. One bike was found abandoned near Kanchinadka School a week back.
Kaup circle inspector Sunil Nayak was in charge of the operation with the cooperation from Padubidri police led by PSI Ajmat Ali.
