Bantwal, Dec 19: Father of deceased puppetry artiste of north Indian origin from Melkar in Panemangalore, Shankar Das (17), has complained to district superintendent of police, alleging that the death of his son was not a case of suicide, but that he had been murdered.

He has requested the SP to order high level inquiry into the death of the youngster.

The body of Shankar Das was found hanging on December 5 at a house in Kamanja near Nidigal of Beltangady taluk. Shankar, a puppetry artiste associated with Srushti Arts puppetry team in Guruvayanakere, was living in a rented room owned by Jagadish Shetty at Kalmaja village. Owner of Srushti Arts, Satya, had informed the boy's father on December 6 at around 9 am that Shankar had committed suicide.

Munna Chand, father of Shankar, says that there were no plausible reasons for his son to commit suicide. He said that he suspects that his son was killed, on the basis of injury marks found on the body. He has requested the SP to hold investigation and punish the guilty.
