Udupi: Christmas get-together held at Shirva

Udupi, Dec 20: Catholic Sabha Udupi region Arogya Mata Church Shirva unit organized Christmas get-together 2015 at bus stand Shirva on Saturday, December 19.

Moulana Sirajuddin Zaini, priest (Khatiba) Sunni Zamiya Masjid inaugurated the programme by cutting Christmas cake and said, “Muslim religion proposes peace and harmony to all Christian brethren for this Christmas. All religions promote the same principles of peace and harmony in the world.”

“The Christmas get-together, organized in a small village like Shirva should promote religious harmony. If such activities are held across the nation, there is no doubt that India will become a model of world peace.,” he added.

In his Christmas message, Fr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, said, “A man without religion is like a ship which runs without a sailor. India is a huge ocean of religions where different rivers end their way in one ocean.”

“Our nation is a collection of different languages, religions and cultures. Let us unite without any discrimination of religion and caste. Let us be one nation by keeping aside all feelings of hatred from the community,” added Bishop Isaac.

Leena Machado, president, Catholic Sabha, Leo Noronha, secretary, Stany pinto, Fr Stany Tauvro and others were present.
