Karkala: Couple adept at stealing from marriage functions held

Karkala, Dec 22: A couple from Shivamogga that had mastered the art of stealing valuables and gold ornaments from the dressing rooms of brides and grooms stands arrested. The arrests were made by Hiriyadka police on Monday December 21.

The arrested duo has been identified as S R Pradeep (38), and his wife, REvathi (28), residents of Jayanagar Shivamogga. The couple used to dress themselves in decent clothes, visit marriage functions, sneak into dressing rooms, and pick cash and gold ornaments from bags kept there by families.

On certain occasions, they also removed ATM cards and withdrew cash by using them, the police said. Hiriyadka police have seized gold and silver ornaments, cash, a motor bike, and ATM cards, totally worth about Rs 12 lac from the couple.

The arrests were made by Hiriyadka police sub-inspector, Rafiq M, under the guidance of Brahmavar police circle inspector, deputy superintendent of police, and additional superintendent of police.

    Nice work my Hiriyadka SP should be appreciated. Culprits should be investigated thoroughly for more cases they would have done in the past and all the stolen assets should be recovered and returned to the owners. Keep these people as police guest for some time and let them enjoy it.
