Mangalore: Manipal College of Nursing Inaguarated

Mangalore, Aug 27: "Institutions should mature and should not compromise with quality at any cost. Maintenance of qualitative standards in all respects including academics is very important in higher education like nursing," Dr V S Acharya, minister of medical education Karnataka told.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating Manipal College of Nursing at DR TMA Pai International Convention Center in the city on August 27.

The Planning commission is of the opinion that private-partnership can hold water as the Commission feels the participation of private institutions should take-place with the minimal interference of Government, he added.

Dr Ramdas M Pai, chancellor, Manipal University told, "Nursing profession has gained importance and it has unique challenges and responsibilities on its shoulders to promote health and thus welfare of the community."

The role played by nurses is very important even more significant than the doctors, as they spend more time with patients than doctors do, he added.

"Nursing is the noblest profession of all, even stands tall compare to that of doctors as comfort and console by nurses play a major role to cure diseases," Dr H S Ballal, pro- chancellor, Manipal University told.

Dr Rajasekharan P Warrier, vice-chancellor, Manipal University told "Doctors often depend upon the notes by nurses, and advise students to take part in the co-curricular activities to develop their personalities besides possessing good academic credentials."

Dr H Vinod Bhat, registrar of Manipal University, Dr Raghuvir, the dean , Ramananda S Shetty, director of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka   were present during the inaugural ceremony.

Dr Juliana D'Sa welcomed the gathering.
