Qalco reign supreme in M Pallonji Qatar cricket tourney

Qatar, Dec 22: In the second M Pallonji Qatar national day cricket tournament 2015, Qalco defeated M Pallonji by six wickets in a closely fought encounter and became the champion.

M Pallonji has been the strongest sponsor of the Cricket tournaments. Eight teams participated in the knock out tournament. All the matches, including the final match was played at the QCA Sports Complex on Friday, December 18 under excellent weather conditions.

Winning the toss, Qalco put M Pallonji to bat, which seemed a right decision as M Pallonji went on to score only 71 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted overs. Rasick contributed 31 runs off 20 balls with two sixes and a boundary, Neeraj scored ten runs and Ibrahim contributed nine runs.

Tharaka took three wickets while Jonty and Hilmy took two wickets each.

In reply, Qalco batsmen started on a positive note and secured 72 runs in 7.5 overs. They eventually won the match by six wickets. Aftab was the top scorer with 22 runs with a six. Budhika scored 16 runs with a six. Amal was on 10 not out with one six and a boundary. 

Firdous took two wickets and Dixit claimed a wicket for M Pallonji.

The man of the final was awarded to Tharaka of M Pallonji.

For the prize distribution ceremony, the chief guest was Chidananda Nayak, Regional General Manager of M Pallonji and the guest of honor was Shahid Iqbal of QALCO.

Following were declared the best of the tournament: Best Batsman- Rasick of M Pallonji, Best Bowler- Firdous of M Pallonji.

A large number of cricket fans and well wishers attended the prize distribution ceremony.

Cash prizes were given away to various players who performed well in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments for spectators.
