A committee formed as suggested in the interim order by the high court had expressed the opinion that "basically this programme does not involve any violence on the animals and occasional instance of beating the animals are preventable by proper education, training and disqualification of entries with scar/injury marks".

Birds or Cattle farming is there since stone age in all over the world for food and entertainment.Govt., has to do some result oriented works like cancellation of summer vacation for courts as there are lakhs of cases are pending. Britishers used to close down the courts and return to their native places since they could not tolerate the temperature here. Same practice is still continuing. Minor age should be considered to 10, IPC to be amended, evidence act should be changed. Ministers, MPs MLAs should work as social servants not as paid servants since they are enjoying all facilities for their service.

While welcoming the decision of giving green signal to hold Kambalas, some of the conditions set by the government is ridiculous.Just for name sake.It is needless to mention here that these conditions of government are already in use and buffaloes which are being used for racing purpose very well taken care of and fed properly. No separate clause for this. Those who are well enough/rich only can afford to tame these buffaloes and being treated more than like prince and princess of royal family. However some vested parties are playing dirty game in the name of animal cruelty.Kambalas are one of the traditional,fun-fare and folklore game of coastal region in undivided Dakshina Kannada/Udupi district including Kasargod. Not even the human beings are fed like the way these Kambala buffaloes and well trained without any torture.Even racers will be given proper training.Occasional whipping is part of the game and it is not violence and cruelty.Different animals are being used for different purposes. If Kambala is the cruel and violent, what about cow slaughtering, chicken stall, horse race, fish trading,goat/sheep slaughtering and even hunting?.Why can't the government thinking of banning? Anyhow Kambala lovers are very happy about the green signal to hold Kambala.Don't politicize the same in the future. It was being going on for the century, being continuing and will be continued as before.Jai Kambala lovers,Jai Karnataka

We are talking about taking care of animals.
Governments, first think about taking care of humans. Basic requirements you can not provide.
2Rs meal (MPs) is not available for common man.Look at the physic sizes of MPs/MLAs. Eat and sleep, even in the Parliament

Different animals are there for different purposes. Making too much or too little concern of any animal does not serve the existent of that animal and it is not good for human race. We should make use of the animals properly so that human necessities are served and at the same time nature is protected. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.

    Rakesh,

Kambala and slaughtering are two polarizing topics. A farmer does not rear his domestic stock with an aim of killing them but as an aid in his farm activities.

Kambala is an annual entertainment to him as well as a display of his ability to keep healthy buffaloes whereas slaughter is for meeting the food requirement of unrelated people. However, the two are connected because a farmer sells his old/useless farm animals to trade for younger, healthy animals though he does not think about future of the animals. We can't expect this of him because for a profit and better produce, he knows what is best for him. Just as a businessman terminates old/incompatible staff.

Its we who worship cows let off on roads but don't care about sheltering them in our house. We need a ready cow for worship in order to be called perfect in our faith. How the cows spend their old-age is none of our concern but if a section of people consume them, then also its our concern.

Most cruel of us are those who keep cows for milk, sell the it for profit. They let them off on the roads because there is no grass land for the cows to graze. Why not ? What he did with the profit made from selling the milk ? We must find a solution for this type of people before we accuse those who slaughter animals.

Are the people who raise concern about ill-treatment towards buffaloes in Kambala, also active in raising similar concerns for horse stables ? To the horses used in National Parades or in races ? Towards sniffer dogs in Police Department ?

The keeper of a buffalo pair knows the best way to look after his proud possession. A farmer is far more kind to his livestock than those who touch a cow roaming on a street in spiritualistic respect.

Kindness to animals should be applicable in all cases, not only in the little entertainment the village farming folks enjoy by involving their pride, in displaying how healthy and fit are the domestic animals they possess.

@ Lydia, but the fact is that few people have no mercy on animal when being killed for meat. They say that it is right of their food. When you have a lot of things available to eat, how animal meat becomes the only source of food.Same people feel that racing is a crime.

Are applying same 'mercy' while buying a Kg of Pork ? Are we applying same 'mercy' while going hunting for wild boars, rabbits or other animals ? Can you survive without chicken, fish ?

I suggest you try veggy a week, you will enjoy it.For that learn cooking veggies properly from some authentic vegetarians.

    Joy,

Its not ONE day with veg, its SIX days veg, one day fish routine in my family, besides no smoking/ alcohol. Chicken/meat is least preferred.

Result ? Less visitors ! Advantage is best of health (except for some age-related complains from older members), active participation and peace !

You need to trust me at this, else, welcome to witness it.

Forget about vegetables and fish even in grains, eggs, seeds there is life. When they are consumed they loose life. It is the principle of nature to maintain its balance. We should stop making "TOO MUCH or TOO LITTLE" (use, concern) of any thing. Thank you and God bless each and every one of us.
