Lucknow, Aug 28:
Taking a serious view of alleged objectionable references to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on a social networking website Orkut, the state government on Tuesday said it would take strict action against the offenders.

"We have the expertise to deal with such matters. We will take steps to ensure the offenders are punished," Home Secretary Javed Ahmed told reporters here.

"If it is found that objectionable words have been used against the chief minister, necessary steps will follow," he said, adding the government has agencies to deal with such matters.

Objectionable references were allegedly posted on the Orkut website against Mayawati.
