Karkala, Dec 24: A woman living near Baradi here was raped by a relative. She is pregnant now, and the incident of rape was revealed after considerable delay.

Station house office of rural police station here, Krishnamurty, arrested the accused, identified as Monappa Parava, on Wednesday December 23 morning. Monappa happens to be the uncle of the lady, being the husband of the younger sister of the third wife of her father, it is said.

Out of three wives of the victim, first had gone back to parents, while the second one had died. The lady used to visit the house of her aunt located nearby because they are related. It is said that she was raped by her aunt's husband during one of these visits about six months back, and this act was repeated several times in the later months.

On the basis of the complaint filed by pregnant lady, a case stands registered in the rural police station here. The arrested accused has been subjected to medical tests, it is learnt.
