Aamir, Anushka crowned PETA'S hottest vegetarians

Mumbai, Dec 29 (IANS): Superstar Aamir Khan and actress Anushka Sharma have been named the hottest vegetarians of 2015 by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

The two winners beat a strong group of competitors, including Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor, R. Madhavan and Dhanush.

"It is very important what you eat, as that is what you are. So it's very important to make sure you're eating enough vegetables and drinking enough water, which I've always done," Anushka said in a statement.

Visitors to PETAIndia.com had cast their votes to help the organisation to decide whom it would choose as the most alluring celebrities.

Aamir's decision to eat vegan food was prompted by a video about eating healthy that his wife Kiran Rao showed him.

Vegans refrain from using any animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.

"At the end of it, I was convinced that vegans are way ahead of non-vegetarians and even vegetarians," Aamir said.

Sachin Bangera, PETA India manager (media and celebrity projects),feels that Aamir and Anushka are the perfect example of "fit vegetarians".

"And they're inspiring millions of their fans to try plant-based foods", he added.
