Mangaluru, Dec 30: In a tragic incident, a boy accidentally fell into a well and drowned near Ashwathapura Seetharam temple in Moodbidri on Wednesday, December 30.

The deceased Adarsha Shetty (12) was son of Anil Shetty, a resident of Ashwathapura temple locality, and was studying in seventh standard at Vani Vilas aided Higher Primary School.

It is learnt that he was trying to save a cat that had fallen into the well. In his attempt, he lost his balance and fell into the well and drowned.

After the family realized that the boy was missing, they started searching for him along with the locals. They found his slippers near the well and when they looked inside, they found his body.

Moodbidri police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

Adarsh was said to be a talented student. The school in which he was studying was preparing for its annual programme. The event was cancelled following the untimely demise of the boy.

Anil Shetty works as a security guard at Kallamandkur, while his wife Vimala works at an Anganwadi centre in Ashwathapara. Their elder son had died in a road accident at Marigudi near Moodbidri three years ago. The couple has lost both their children and are in deep shock.
