Mangaluru: Towards a bandh-free DK district - Meeting on Jan 8

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru Jan 1: It is well-known fact in the state that Dakshina Kannada district has become infamous for its 'bandh culture'. With an intention to make Dakshina Kannada bandh-free, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim has called a district-level meeting where organizations and individuals can give their suggestions.

The meeting, to be presided over by the district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, will be held on January 8 at 3 pm at Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Invitations have already been sent to people’s representatives as well as about 70 organisations in the district to attend this crucial meeting.

Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim in a communique has said that some organisations have been giving calls for bandh for trivial reasons. This has become a major impediment for the growth of the district and a major inconvenience to the comman man. The administration has decided to convene this meeting in an effort to make Dakshina Kannada a bandh-free district, the DC stated.

Only hope Mangalore to become future 'smart' city is smart people come together and reject the communal organisations.

Sir,Mangaloreans have lost hope in administration and law enforcement department and ruling people in power.

As long as saffron elements are free to pose threat calling for bandh in press club,Mangalore has no hopes.

Sir,It is time to walk the talk for Mangalore 'Communal Mukth' city.

Very sensible idea. Bandh-free regulations should be passed by Supreme Court,if possible and should be made applicable strictly to all political parties and Senas.

It is imposible to have a bundh free District. But in D.K bundhs are happening to frequently disrupting normal life of people and causing too much inconvenience to public. Definitely this needs to be curtailed. As per the recent order responsibility should be fixed on those Organisation who instigates for such unnecessary bundhs.

Protest against some cause is da constitutional right of the people.Dc has no right to curtail da constitutional right.pls understand first why da bundhs frequently happen in dk.bcoz of bad administration and bad incidents which have been occurred on account of politicians and inefficient officers who are responsible

Protesting is the constitutional right of every citizen, but Bandh is not a constitutional right!! There are plenty other democratic ways of protesting.. What about the right of a common man like a petty shop keeper whose family relies on his little daily earnings to squeeze past every single day and these nonsense bandh's destroy it? In most western countries the constitutional rights of all citizens are protected in its true sense without calling for a single bandh in the entire year...

We must congratulate Dr. UP. Shivanand of Suddi Bidugade Group for his month long village level campaign in Puttur, sullia , belthangady to make these taluks bandh free. Finally the district authorities have come forward to support the initiative and extend it to the district level. This is the need of the hour for DK and hope it will be a grand success. Let everyone understand the seriousness and support this great initiative.

It is unfortunate that Mangalore which was once A VERY PEACEFUL CITY has now turned out to be be a place notorious for strikes and bandhs.

Our versatile Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ibrahim knows and understands the need of the day and it is an excellent move to invite public opinion and support to convert Mangalore into a BANDH-FREE City.

It is my hope and wish that the public will fully cooperate and support this great cause.

I request all religion and social units not to invoke BUNDH voluntarily or forcibly which is directly effecting common people at least in so called undivided D.K. rather use peaceful processions to convey our messages to concern authorities. Brothers and Sisters be this a resolution in 2016.

IF CONGRESS TREATS ALL ARE PEOPLE WITHOUT ANY PRIORITY TO ANY COMMUNITY THERE WILL BE NO BANDH AT ALL. BUT AS ERSTWHILE HM SAID MINORITIES SHOULD NOT BE BOOKED FOR CRIMES THAT IS WHY CRIMES RISE AND PEOPLE/GROUPS OBJECT TO SUCH PARTIALITY ESPECIALLY IN CONGI RULED STATES WHICH IS NOT IN THE INTEREST OF ONE AND ALL BUT WITH INTENTION OF VOTE BANK POLITICS.

This is a Good move as for as Developments, Daily wage workers life, Travellers, Patients etc are concerned. Here it is said that Invitations to Organizations to participate in Jan 8 meeting were sent. These orgainizations start and close at any time like startup companies. What is the guarantee that one accepted by a bearer of an organization will be continued if another assumes charge ?

Why not an open Invitation for general public or a mandate to bring a local law for the same.

How human/personal rights can be protected by this decision ?

Generally Bandh is called to make the responsible open their eyes and ears for an issue and in many cases to show case some group is not ready to accept what administration is going to implement. What is the better alternative if Bandh is not the way to open the eyes and ears of the responsible ?

Of course political people can be deseated by vote that too with high difficulty. What to do about deaf/dumb/inhuman/inactive bureaucrats ?

There should not be bund and those who force the shutter down should be punished under Organised Crime. There should not be road processions that block the traffic. The Nehru Maidan should not be used for other than the Sports Events. There should not be posters and hoardings along the roads and circles for any occasions.
