Bangalore: State Film Awards Presented sans Fans

Bangalore, Aug 31:
For the first time, the general public was not allowed for the film award presentation function which was held at Jnana Jyoti Auditorium, here on Thursday August 30 night.
 
Fans were barred to enter inside the venue. So the annual Karnataka State Film awards were presented without the usual fanfares.
 
Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and deputy chief minister BS Yediyurappa presented the awards.



Senior actress Lakshmi Devi bagged the Dr Rajkumar Award for the year 2006 -07, while actor Ramesh Puttanna Kangal received award on behalf of Singeetham Srinivas.
 
Senior actor and director Dwarakish bagged lifetime achievement award and Vijay received Best Actor Award for his role in ‘Duniya’ while actress Tara bagged the Best Actress Award for her role in ‘Cyanide’.
 
Speaking on the occasion the chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that Kannada film industry is reaching to mass audience and hoped that it will reach number one position in the country soon.
 
Deputy chief minister BS Yediyurappa said that the government is committed in helping to grow the Kannada film industry.
 
For setting up Dr Rajkumar Memorial Rs 3 crore has been earmarked, he said.
 
Dwarakish speaking on behalf of the awardees appealed the film industry to unite and strive for its success.
