Karkala: 'Social worker' arrested for repeatedly raping bedridden woman

Karkala, Jan 2: A person posing as a 'social worker' was arrested here on Friday January 1 on charges of repeatedly raping a bedridden middle aged woman.

The arrested has been identified as Ganesh Nayak (36), a resident of Kukkundooru Kallabettu.

Ganesh Nayak, driver of a pick-up vehicle used to go to the house of the woman claiming to be a social worker and had developed sexual relationship with the woman despite her protests. The woman and her aged mother protest each time but the man had ignored them besides threatening to kill them if they disclosed the matter to anyone.

The aged mother of the woman then lodged a complaint in the town police station. Circle inspector G M Naikar conducted the investigating under the guidance of ASP Dr Sumana.

A police team led by ASP Tatanatha D arrested Ganesh Nayak, registered a police case and subjected him to medical tests in taluk government hospital.

Ganesh Nayak is married and has a nine-year-old son.

The court has ordered 15 days' judicial custody for the accused.

    Very bad move under the banner of SOCIAL WORKER. Hereafter trust will be shaken or hurt between social workers and their clients. This may be one in many examples of this kind which came to light recently. Let us be cautious show or responsibility whenever required.

    For me it is bit confusing.Woman is bedridden.That means someone is at home to take care of this Person.Then how can he come and rape the woman when someone is there?or did when elder Person was not there?did she believe him as he told social worker,and left him alone to go to market?or he made her believe that he will marry her?A big question here.Only he can answer.looks also not very sensitive or scared to media.send him to Psychiatrist.

    I can understand the anguish. But sharia law?

    We have money to make a mission to MARS. Our government does not reduce the price of fuel even when crude oil price is low.

    Yet our judiciary is able to handle 1 lane traffic when we need 5 lane handling judiciary.

    We do not have enough cops( police) to manage traffic. We the public are divisive enough to side with the politicians of our choice ( closing our eyes).

    I guess forums like these enable us to pour out our anguish.

    It is the back log in our courts - that we need to worry about. Our demands as citizens should be swift justice. Let that be our demand for the next election.

    What is the guarantee of fair justice even after imposing Sharia law? We have seen many cases in GCC countries where influential citizens get scot-free and foreigners are unjustly punished. What happened to the Saudi diplomat who forcibly confined two Nepalese maids in a Delhi apartment and the Saudi employer who cut off her maid’s hand?

    @S.kukkikatte,Mumbai,As you say sharia law to the rape Person,is not bad.But at the same time there are some women or Girls who simply file the case of rape on persons which turns out later fake.Then as per s.law is not correct.A life is lost due to wrong complaint.so have to think of before a Person is convicted.This fellow what he has done is totally ashaming to soceity,to his own Family.How he can explain to his son ,wife?Bringing a bad Name to the good Job.Life time jail is the only punishment,that too tying him to a bed all the time.Then he will know what to be a bedridden is.
