Bengaluru, Jan 3: As the Zilla and Taluk panchayat elections are fast approaching, the government has decided to increase the price of the milk and its products to appease the rural voters in the state, alleged H D Revanna.

“Because of the hike in milk price, there is a chance of people going for milk from private companies instead of buying Nadini brand milk. This will affect the farmers in an indirect way. The government should honestly think about this problem. Presently the milk federations are in loss. The government should make these losses good by paying from its coffers. It should not increase the milk price. It should protect the interests of milk consumers in the state," Revanna added.

“The chief minister should convene a meeting of all the presidents of milk federations and discuss the matter with them. He should listen to their grievances. And in any case, if at all the price is increased, the government should promise that Rs 3 will go to the farmers." Revanna said.
