Udupi, Jan 3: In an open show of power, Bajrang Dal Mangaluru convenor Sharan Pumpwell on Sunday January 3 said that Bajrang Dal was so strong that the police and the district administration sought its permission on allowing Dr Zakir Naik into Mangaluru, and challenged the Congress-led state government stating that Bajrang Dal was capable of bringing it down in just three hours.
He was speaking at Bruhut Hindu Samajotsava organized by the Hiriadka unit of VHP and Bajrang Dal at Hiriadka here.
"Bajrang Dal is so strong that the superintendent of police (SP) and the deputy commissioner (DC) ask our permission on whether Zakir Naik should be allowed in Mangaluru. This itself shows our power.
"Chief minister Siddarmaiah had said he would support anyone who takes on Bajrang Dal. We are ready to show our power to him. Babri Masjid was demolished in 8 hours, but just three hours are enough for Bajrang Dal to bring down the Siddaramaiah government. We are ready to accept Siddarmaiah's challenge - we will give a fitting reply if we are provoked," warned Sharan Pumpwell.
Referring to the murder of right-wing activist and flower vendor Prashant Poojary in Moodbidri in October 2015, he said, "No one should forget the murder of Prashant Poojary. It should always burn in our hearts. We will definitely take revenge one day or the other."
RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat in his keynote address said, "India has always thought about the well-being of the entire world and has never caused harm to anyone. There are lacs of mosques and churches in the country to which Hindus too have contributed. But now they say Hindu processions should not pass through such areas. We have cooperated with everyone, but now the word 'Hindu' itself has become victim of ridicule.
"Earlier during communal tensions Hindus used to flee, but now Hindus bravely confront and ask why they are being attacked, but just for questioning the atrocity, they are being booked under 307 (atttempt to murder) cases," he added.
"When Khans go to foreign countries they are searched by the security officials, but when Hindus go there, they are welcomed with folded hands. It is India that taught the world to clothe. But if Hindu girls in the coastal region are harassed, we will tear the clothes of the culprit," he warned.
"If we were against Muslims, we would have stopped doing business with them, but we have not done that. If we stop buying fish and clothes from their shops, they will be forced to close down their businesses and sit at home.
"Mothers should teach good values to children - this will put an end to love Jihad," he added.
"Our country has given place for every community to grow, but now we are being branded as communal-minded," he lamented.
Earlier, Sri Narasimhashrama Swamiji of Balekudru Math said inaugurated the programme. In his address, he lashed out at intellctuals who had returned their awards and said, "On the one hand we have threat from ISIS from the outside, while inside our country, some intellectuals are behaving like the ISIS. Foreign invaders looted us enough and more and our country was in darkness, but now Prime Minister Narendra Modi in just one year has taken away half the darkness. Today the entire world is looking towards India, and this is a good development."
VHP district president Baikady Suprasad Shetty, Mangaluru Bajrang Dal unit co-convener Sunil K R, Udupi district convenor Dinesh Mendon, Devadas Kamath and others were present.
Prior to the programme, a procession was held from Kotnakatte to Hiriadka.
