Udupi: Falling advertisement billboard claims a life

Udupi, Jan 4: In a tragic accident which occurred at Bannadi near Kota in the taluk on Sunday January 3, a person died after the advertisement hoarding that was being raised to its proposed position on a pillar accidentally fell down. A person got killed under its weight.

The hoarding frame was made of iron. Uday Shetty, a contractor for advertisement, was working with his assistant, identified as Siddesh (36), a native of Haveri district. The hoarding suddenly slipped and fell down from considerable height, seriously injuring Siddesh in the bargain, it is gathered. When Siddesh was taken by Uday to the government hospital at Kundapur, the doctors pronounced him brought dead.

A case of accidental death was thereafter registered in Kota police station.

    At least this incident open the eyes of people. Advt in such a big scale is not necessary in this modern age. Advt is there everywhere. These advt hoardings washed out the natural beauty of our places.
