Moodbidri: Funeral of soldier who died at Rajasthan performed

Moodbidri, Jan 5: The funeral of Girish from Badaga Mijar village near here, who was working for Indian Army's engineering department in Rajasthan, was performed near his family home in Urki on Monday January 4 night.

Girish Eshwar Poojary (35) had died of cardiac arrest at the residential quarters of Indian Army on January 2.


















Girish's mortal remains were brought to New Delhi from Rajasthan on Monday morning. The body, which was then transported to Bengaluru at 10 am, reached Bengaluru at 12.45 pm. It was then sent to Badaga Yedapadavu near here at 2 pm, reaching his home at Urki at 10 pm. Army officials who accompanied the ambulance handed over the body to the family.

Subedar G B Sharat, and Nayak Palani, who was working with Girish, handed over the body to Girish's family.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mangaluru assistant commissioner, Ashok, tahsildar here, Muhammed Issac, range forest officer, G D Dinesh, Bajpe police inspector, T D Nagaraj, and police personnel from Bajpe and local police stations were present to pay respects.

A large number relatives and friends of the deceased soldier were present on the occasion.
