Mangaluru: Car rams into tree at Konaje - Five of family injured

Mangaluru, Jan 7: Five persons of a family were injured, one of them seriously, after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at Tiblapadavu under Konaje police limits here on the night of Wednesday January 6.

The injured have been identified as Mohammed Asfahan (25) who was driving the car, Shifana Parveen (17), Shameera (35), Ishana (13) and Mumtaz (45). All of them belong to the same family and are residents of Vorkaregudde in Konaje.

Among the injured, Mumtaz is said to be in a critical condition. She is admitted in a private hospital in Deralakatte.

The family was travelling from Vorkaregudde to Uchila, Someshwar to attend a function at a relative's house. At Tiblapadavu, Asfahan tried to overtake another car and in the process, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a roadside tree, sources said.

The impact was such that the car was completely damaged and one of its doors was thrown off several metres away.

Konaje police have registered a case.
