Udupi, Jan 9: "Passion, dedication and work ethics are the keys to becoming a successful entrepreneur," said founder and editor-in-chief of Daijiworld, Walter Nandalike, on the second day of ‘Shine 2016’ a diocesan youth convention organized by ICYM at Trinity Central School, Perampalli here on Saturday, January 9.

Delivering a talk on 'I want to be an entrepreneur!', Walter Nandalike thanked the organizers of 'Shine 2016' and said, "ICYM has played a crucial role in shaping my life as a youngster. Whatever I am today, I owe to ICYM."

Recalling his childhood, he said that he had been through many difficulties and his mother nurtured him with all her care during those tough days. "I was very excited when my first story was published in the Konkani magazine ‘Amso Yuvak’ at the age of 13.

"After my studies, I joined a multi-national company in Dubai. During my free time, I learnt computers and with that, started a Daijiworld website in 2001. I never looked back after that, and within a few years, the website was able to garner readers from across the the world," he said.

"Daijiworld has become a household name among Mangalureans. Moreover, the group is also providing employment opportunities to many youths of the region," he added.

Walter Nandalike thanked all his supporters, family and friends, who have encouraged him every step of the way in taking his venture forward.

Fr Edwin D’Souza, director, ICYM Udupi diocese, Fr Henry Mascaranhas, estate manager of diocese of Udupi were present.
