Dubai, Jan 10: Celebrating the 10th year of its existence, Konkan Yuva, the St Mary’s Church Dubai Youth association from west coast region of India, organized a crib competition during the 2015 Christmas season, and has now announced the results. Konkan Yuva or KY as it is popularly known, organizes crib competition every year to usher in and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

This year however was special. In a record in itself, KY received in excess of 30 entries for the competition. Further, in a first, KY received entries from nationalities such as Portugal, Lebanon which has never happened in the 5 years of crib competition history in Dubai.

Creativity was at the heart of the entries this time. Stephen, a member of the crib competition organizing committee said, "First of all, we received immense response from various nationalities and to add to that, creativity and concept showcased by the participants was such as never seen before."

Stephen, leader of the organizing committee said, "We received in excess of 30 entries and had to say 'no' to a few of the entries due to time constraint. However, one thing is clear; the spirit of Christmas is still alive and improving year on year. That is something amazing! I am proud of the fact that in the era of modernization, people have not forgotten the roots of our tradition."

Konkan Yuva president Lee had this to say: "I would like to thank each and every participant for their efforts to prepare the crib. I hope this has brought their families and colleagues closer. It must be noted that a crib is not merely an outward symbol, but it should evoke in us a deeper love for fellow human beings. I also thank Konkan Yuva members who spent their precious time in visiting the competitors and judging their cribs. I wish everyone a happy New Year."

Christmas crib competition is arranged by Konkan Yuva annually and the association intends to continue the tradition.
