Karkala, Jan 10: An advocate lost his life while his young son sustained injuries in an accident at Nallur, Parapady here on Sunday January 10.

The deceased has been identified as Beltangady-based advocate Prashant Shetty (45), son of Nemiraj Shetty. His son Pradhyuth (8) was injured in the accident.

It is learnt that Prashant and Pradyuth were riding home from Karkala after watching Kambala, when a recklessly driven Scorpio rammed into their scooter at Nallur.

The Scorpio was moving from Dharmasthala towards Karkala. The impact of the accident was such that the scooter was completely smashed and the Scorpio turned turtle. The identity of the Scorpio driver is yet to be ascertained.

Prashant and his son were rushed to a government hospital in Karkala and then to Manipal hospital. However, Prashant breathed his last on the way while his son is recuperating in a hospital.

Karkala rural police have registered a case.
