Mangaluru, Jan 13: MLC Ivan DSouza on Wednesday January 13 demanded the resignation of BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and termed his padayatra to Yettinahole in December a 'political gimmick'.

Referring to comments by Chikkamagluru MLA C T Ravi that the BJP government was responsible for the Yettinahole project and that the Congress government was taking credit for it, he said, “The district BJP leaders, including MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, have to clarify their stand on the Yettinahole project.

"While the district leaders are against the project, leaders of the other districts are urging the government to speed up the ongoing works on the project. C T Ravi is a former district in-charge of Dakshina Kannada. The district BJP president Pratap Simha should clarify his stand," he added.

"The only motive of the opposition BJP is to weaken the ruling government. The district BJP leaders are trying to show it to the world that Congress government is responsible for the Yettinahole project. The BJP leaders are protesting just for projecting the government in a bad light and do not have any concern for people. If MP Nalin has any self-respect, he must resign as MP," he said.

Interim president of the district Congress Ibrahim Kodijal, ZP member Melwyn D'Souza and Nazeer were present.

Guys, I'm not smart as you all. Right now Im fully confused. Who is for and who is against this project. Is this a dirty game of both BJP and Congress? Are they all together and fooling people ? If they are united, why should there be a difference in the approach by leaders?
For a long time,Im reading articles on this project and really dont understand what the fuss is all about.Probably I should be a politician to understand this.

Mr. Ivan, Yes we all know that Mr. Sadanada Gowda & Mr. Veerappa Moily's are responsible for the said project.

But y r u following their footsteps. you are saying that BJP people are using this project name for their political benefits. Being a Managalorean, member of Present Government y can't you go & speak to CM & try to discontinue the project. Rather than speaking for your political benefit you should be brave & prove who u r. then people will believe you. otherwise public will treat you as one among them. BE positive . don't take every matter for your benefit & at least work for our District.

Each pipe of the project is 10 feet in diameter. 3 pipes are to be laid together. So imagine the cost and kickbacks in this tender of 8000plus Crores.

The plan for the Yettinahole project was the brainchild of former CM Veerappa Moily. He wanted this water for his drought striken LS constituency Chikkaballapur and he had made this promise to his electorate. He is pressurised to deliver it failing that he wont be elected from there again. D.V.Sadanand Gowda too wants this water for his LS constituency as well. So there is nothing new in the political demand from the Congress and BJP. The Congress feels : why give the water to Dakshina Kannada when they have elected a BJP candidate for the Lok Sabha. Its a political game at the end of it all. What Ivan Dsouza is saying is all rubbish, foolish and untrue. People of Mangalore will not believe his story.

Mr. Ivan, Very good drama you are enacting!. Do you remember that you and Nalin both shared stage side by side in St. Aloysius college recently to inaugurate a hall and both of you in your speech referred to other as 'very good friend'!!!???. You both were chatting like very close friends throughout the function!!!. Why this nataka now!?. I am sure you spoke to Nalin before this press conference and also I am sure Nalin has blessed you!. I am also sure that you have permitted Nalin to hold a counter press conference next and then both of you will party in a star hotel for fooling intelligent people!!!

Do you think MP Nalin Kumar goes by Train and DVS by flight when they travel to Delhi for Parliament.
It is the former BJP rulers are forcing the civil authorities to continue the project.
