Puttur: No scientific survey done on Yettinahole project - Yeddyurappa

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jan 14: Shivamogga MP, BJP national vice president, and former chief minister of Karnataka, B S Yeddyurappa, said that no scientific survey had in fact been conducted on the feasibility of Yettinahole drinking water project. He suggested to the government to conduct a practical survey and take up the project after convincing people living in the plains and the coast about the effectiveness of the project.

Speaking to media persons after taking part in 'Viveka Sangama' programme organized at Vivekananda College premises here on Wednesday January 13, Yeddyurappa noted that the government has already procured huge pipes that are very costly, for executing this project. This is one of the reasons which has enraged the people of Dakshina Kannada district. Before taking up any project, the government should make it a point to take people of the affected areas into confidence, he opined.

"The state government is overlooking development works. Instead of working for the welfare of the people, it has been pursuing anti-people policies," he alleged. He said that development works in the state have been put on hold in the name of upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections. Commenting that development works and election have nothing to do with each other, he reminded the government that model code of conduct is yet to be enforced in the state.

Yettinahole project was authorized by the action of BJP Government led by BJP Chief minister Sadanada Gowda. Presently BJP has majority in parliament and Central cabinet is headed by BJP prime minster Modi. Central BJP cabinet or BJP majority parliament has power to stop Yettinahole project. All BJP members should ask BJP government to order the cancellation of Yettinahole project.
