Udupi: Christian organizations offer Horekanike ahead of Paryaya

Udupi, Jan 14: Various Christian organizations of Udupi diocese led by Catholic Sabha on Thursday, January 14 offered Horekanike for the upcoming Paryaya celebrations. Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math will be ascending the Paryaya Peeta for the fifth time on January 18. 

IFCKA, International Christian Organizations Union, Sthree Sanghatan, Udupi diocese, Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), and Youth Christ Students (YCS) led by Catholic Sabha jointly offered the Horekanike.

The beautiful procession was arranged in an effort to promote communal harmony. It began from Jodukatte and proceeded to Big Bazaar, old Diana circle, Triveni circle and culminated at Sri Krishna Temple.

Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandez flagged off the Horekanike procession. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mary Shreshta, former Catholic Sabha Udupi unit said, “Paryaya festival is not for one community, it is celebrated by all religious communities in the region. 

"We have offered coconut, rice, pumpkin, cucumber, bananas and so on for the Paryaya festival. I have grown up in Udupi city and I know Paryaya well. It is a pleasure being part of this Paryaya,” she said. 

William Machado, president, Udupi region, Alis Rodrigues, secretary, Lewis Lobo, president, IFCKA, Justice Wilson Rodrigues, Neri Cornelio, Smita Renzal, president, Sri Sangatana, Derrick Mascarenhas, president, ICYM, Udupi diocese, Priyanka, YCS Udupi president, Jerry Vincent Dias, Mandavi Builders, Melwyn Aranha, zonal president, Shirva Catholic Sabha, Joseph G M Rebello Kallianpur and others were present during the procession.

    Congratulations ! Christian Organizations for organizing such a beautiful procession and support for the Paryaya. Udupi and Mangalore are known for harmony and peace. This is a good example for this. Udupi is a historically famous. Let us bring back the sprit of unity among us and live in peace and harmony and respect all communities.

    Why to disturb the peace in and around Mangalore? Please going forward dont create any communal-religious tension'. Stay happily helping one another leaving all proud, jealous and hatred.

    This is Mangalore! we are all want to be united, unity in diversity is the core value of Mangaloreans. Be it Hindu, Muslim or Christian all wants to live in peace and helping each other. A humble request to these political parties and affiliates " please don't bring politics in between the religion and divide the people just to attract votes" We want to live like this for ever.....we all one...Salute to all my christian brothers & sisters.....

    As a Hindu I am indebted by your generosity and hope my hindu brothers will remember and reciprocate at appropriate time.
    This is the "ooru" I remember growing up. This gives me hope of harmony for my next generation to come.

    We live in a society. Give and take is the policy adopted by many. Politicians are playing with the sentiments of the people. Actually all religions are equal and praying to one God by different names. It is nice to see Christians and Muslims are participating in the Paryaya. May the God bless all the people in this world.

    Its great to see that the organisation IFKCA, led by none other than Mr. Ronald Colaco has taken this great initiative in showing our solidarity with our Hindu brethren.

    Definitely this news must have reached abroad to the global media.
    Unity in diversity is strength of India.
    Hostile countries and divisive forces knew Indians bond in unity.
    They also know that religious division alone can break unity among Indians.
    Surely such countries will manipulate and use gullible leaders to divide Indians in religious lines.
