Mangaluru, Jan 15: Cracking the whip on illegal activities in the district jail, police commissioner Chandra Sekhar along with DCPs and other police personnel on Friday January 15 conducted a raid on the jail and seized several mobile phones, ganja and other items.

Nearly 150 police personnel including ACPs, led by the police commissioner were part of the raid operation. Canine squads were also pressed into action.

After a thorough inspection of the jail premises, the police seized 12 mobile phones, three SIM cards, five mobile batteries, two chargers, a screw driver and four packets of ganja totally weighing nearly 10 grams.

The police commissioner said that the raid was conducted based on information that there were dangerous weapons in the jail. However, no weapon was found.

The jail inmates from whom the items were seized were shifted to different cells.

DCP Shantharaju and DCP Sanjeev Patil assisted the police commissioner in the raid operation.

Four ACPs, ten police inspectors, six police sub-inspectors and two KSRP platoons participated in the operation.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner has shown right from the beginning, that he means business.

Let's all hope for a 'smarter, cleaner' (crime/corruption/golmaal-free) Mangaluru.

Citizens' activism and unity too (irrespective of party/religious affiliation), would contribute in bringing 'Achhe din' back to twin districts.

Good job done by the commissioner, seized items are only tip of the ice berg. These raids should be conducted surprisingly. These people will again have to bribe and bring in the items, frequent raids will reduce this menace.

So... The Police Commissioner has commenced his modus operandus. It is obvious that it is not easy for situations to escape his attention.

This appears to be just the beginning. An idea of what Mr. Chandra Shekar is getting known to people of Mangalore.

From all accounts The Commissioner means business and people can expect justice at his hands.

When authorities supposed to guard the jail themselves are corrupt to the core, what else one can expect from the jail mates? These drama series goes on forever, not something new for the public at large!

INSTEAD OF MAKING FANFARE ON RAIDS COMMISSIONER SHOULD COME OUT WITH ACTION TAKEN REPORT ON HOW THEY GET ENTRY AND WHO ARE THE HANDS BEHIND.
IF THERE IS STRICT VIGIL EVEN AN INSECT COULD NOT GET ENTRY BUT ONLY BECAUSE OF POLICE LAPSE THESE THINGS HAPPEN AND A DRAMA FOLLOWS.

These are all dramas/nautankis are like "Borgalla Mele Neeru suridanthe".In the first place how all these things are being supplied, smuggled inside Jail in spite of tight security?.That means there is no tight security inside the jail and lapse from the concerned officials. Can’t the concerned officials stop these activities, menace completely?.They can provided they take an initiative?.Nothing is impossible in this world. Only thing required is "WILL”. Not show, drama.
Though all criminals are human beings, they should be meted, given adequate, proper punishment as per the law and no leniency should be exhibited. Let the law of the land take its own course. Criminals or prisoners should be severely dealt with without any consideration or sympathy. Whoever may be, guilty should be punished. Activities like murder inside the jail, discovery of pistol, drugs, mobile phone, SIMS, Battery, charger etc happening means sign of improper security and laxity of officials’ concerned. Total lapse of judiciary and system.
