Shivamogga, Jan 17: Confusion and chaos erupted during a press meet held by the founder of Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) Padmanabha Prasanna here and had to be cancelled after the police intervened on Saturday, January 16.

Prasanna had called a press meet to reveal about the marriage CD he claimed to have in his possession. He had also held a press meet in Udupi on January 15 in which he had said that he was ready to release a CD of marriage between former chief minister Yeddyurappa, who was once the president of KJP, and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje. He had demanded a Z-plus security as he feared for his life if he released the CD.

The press meet here had the same issue in its agenda. Prasanna revealed how the couple had got married first in Rajarajeshwari Bhagavati Amma Temple in Kerala earlier and how they got married again in Tirupati after some days on the advice of an astrologer. Prasanna also said that he was ready to release the CD if he was given adequate security by the government.

While the press meet had just begun and the above facts were being revealed, a group led by Ballakere Santosh and Malathesh came to the entrance of the hall and shouted slogans against Prasanna. Then the group proceeded towards the dais where the press meet was held. They shouted that Prasanna was making false allegations and trying to blackmail the BJP leaders. The group claimed that they were the members of Yeddyurappa fan club. The press persons stopped the group and sent them back.

Prasanna then phoned the police. The group which went outside the hall was again seen shouting slogans. The press persons again tried to pacify the group. The police led by DYSP Dr Ram L Aresiddi arrived and asked the group not to shout any slogans. Then Prasanna was taken from the hall by police with protection. The remaining part of the press meet could not be completed.

Later it was revealed that Prasanna complained to the police regarding the problem created by Yeddyurappa fans and demanded protection. At the same time Yeddyurappa fans also lodged a counter complaint saying Prasanna was blackmailing their leader and action should be taken against him.
