Udupi: Start-up India will open up new employment opportunities: Suresh Prabhu

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Jan 19: "A few years ago, India was considered inconducive for doing business. For the first time, we are making progress in the right direction by creating a conducive atmosphere for businessmen to thrive. The Prime Minister's Start-up India initiative will provide many opportunities to newcomers in the job market," said union minister for railways Suresh Prabhu.

He was speaking at an interactive programme organized by Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and district Small Industries Association at Country Inn, Manipal here on Tuesday, January 19.

"After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, India was ranked as the twelfth fastest growing world economy. In the next five years, the central government will try to be one of the top 50 nations in providing the best infrastructure for entrepreneurs. For that we need better tax administration and strict implementation of bankruptcy law," he said.

"Starting a business in India has always been tough. Venture capitals, incubation and support for marketing contribute significantly in changing the entire economic system of India," he added.

"India needs two things - first is entrepreneurship through Start-up India, and the second, large business contracts. India witnessed slow economic growth in the last 25 years but in 2015 the situation changed," he said.

Talking about his ministry and plans afoot, he said, "A large investment in making high speed train in collaboration with China is in the offing. Rs one lac crore worth of projects will kickstart under Make in India programme. Railways will provide better facilities and increase the speed of trains and cost of business. The functioning of the railway departments is becoming transparent. The railways has called tenders for projects worth Rs 40,000 crore. We need vision and action to reach our goal. Indian Railways will be the best sector in the next 10 years. Quality of coaches and providing good food for passengers are important for the growth of railways in India and this can only happen over a period of time.

"The government is trying to expand the horizon of employment possibilities and also improve the quality of work force in India. Realizing the challenges of future is far more important than past developments, and so also to act and meet the present day challenges. The government is trying its best to provide opportunities for employment but people should also realize and do their might by becoming innovative job creators. 'Make in India' is sure to make India of tomorrow. People should come forward and become entrepreneurs to achieve the maximum economic growth of the nation," he entreated.

Sri Kodancha Rao Kodancha, president, UCCI welcomed the gathering, Dr Vijeyendra compered the programme.

MP Shobha Karandlaje, former MLA Raghupati, Sanjay Gupta, DSIA president M Chittarajan Bhat and others were present.

There was a big advertisement campaign in between the hamburger corporations of the U.S. a few years back.

One advertisement was, two old ladies taking one hamburger and took off the bread separately and said " where is the beef".?

The startups-black money share etc etc are turning like the question of the old lady " where is the beef"?

Dear friend, you were all driven to a fantasy world through the great positive sermons of Mr. Modi.

When I wrote in the first part of 2014 warning the oil price plunging after driving many miles across some of the economically depressed States in the south, wrote very affirmatively that the oil demand will be coming down, shale oil production will overflood the market. I wrote that in the Economic Times, the leading Business news paper of Asia, second to Wall St Journal. Indeed, I never expected this much plummeting in the oil price.

I got criticism from many that I am negative, now they are keeping silent.

Mr. Shetty, as the world economy is getting poor every day, do you think that Mr. Modi has any magical power to boost the Indian economy. For the U.S. stock holders, they lost 2 trillion dollars already. How many lakhs of Re lost to the Indian investors in their stock? How much decline in the export? How many jobs are created so far? How much decline in the commodity price? You are a very positive Economist, keep on positive thinking running over the reality show. Good luck.

Mr. Modi's dream sermons of bringing all the foreign industrial plants to India, thus transforming India as the manufacturing base of the world was a mere fantasy dream and certain percentage of the electorate blindly believed the very attractive political rhetoric.

The world economy was in a recession march which was started
    by the end of 2007.

In the U.S., 2015 last quarter $ 1.1 trillion was lost in stocks, further crash of January wiped off $ 550 billion.

The 6 GCC countries have $ 1.65 ( when I added it was 1.85) trillion GDP, 80% of the national income of the GCC is from oil. The GCC countries are going to sell their foreign stocks and bonds worth $ 240 billion, also they are going to issue $ 20 billion bonds to meet the budget. The largest oil exporter Saudi Arabia was short of $ 98 billion last year, and this year the amount would be far greater. The currency strength of the oil producing countries are weakening every day, like Venezuela with her 32 million people having the largest oil reserve in the world. Her currency value was depleted from
    $ 1=176 bolivar to $ 1=865 bolivar now.

Indian export has declined 45% last year, foreign debt is getting bigger, Re value is getting weaker.

Chinese economy is slowing down, Japanese economy is in a chronic stagnation for the very long time the Eurozone is in an economic crisis, the French President has warned about the economic crisis faced with France.

At this very critical economic crisis affecting the whole world, how the source of financing would be conducted for all these Himalayan economic promises?

Indians should stop worrying about the economical decline of foreign nations. China, Oil producing Gulf Nations and all developed countries have rainy day safeguards like National Sovereign funds, Unemployment insurance fund, working legal & justice system to protect its working class & poor Citizens and ability to sell bonds and attract resources from world’s wealthy investors including Indian super rich. When India's economy collapse no safe guards to the billion plus of its poor & middle class Citizens. Super rich & corrupt will fly away with one way tickets.
